Season of the Pirates

Ahoy! Welcome to the Badlands once again as we conclude our inaugural Season of the Jerries and sail ahead into the Season of the Pirates! This new season will run from April 1st - June 30th of 2021, and you can hear most of this info in today’s 5W bonus episode, Hayword’s Soiree.

Firstly, why Season of the Pirates? We spent the last three months exploring what our seasons could be, and we wanted to do some from the warm embrace of a familiar grounding. Naturally, we chose Jerry, the much loved, sometimes-maligned undead pirate magelord and Discord moderation bot. Now that we’ve got our sea legs under us, we’re plunging into the depths of Dicey Waters and embracing its world. After all, our adventurers began their journey together surrounded by pirates, so why shouldn’t we?

Secondly, we’ve got a few bits of unfinished business from Season of the Jerries, so here’s where we landed:

Community Goal

  • Attain 500 New Listeners

    • We managed to reach 300 new listeners; no small feat!

  • Seasonal Charity Donations

    • We raised $56 for AbleGamers!

  • Seasonal Discord Giveaway Winner

    • Rachel Sanrelus (DreamyRai, PlushiePrincess) hasa won by a mile!

    • We will be partnering with her to dispense a valuable reward funded by the Patreon

  • Patreon Profit Transparency

    • Patreon fees

    • $221 in revenue

    • $56 to AbleGamers

    • $65 for hosting costs

    • Remainder to be used for merch, outreach and taxes

Finally, let’s chart a course through the next three months! We’ve got some big plans for Dice Populi and our community, so let’s dive in:

Community Goal

  • Goal — Reach 50 total Patrons on our Patreon

  • Reward — Release Dicey Waters Original Soundtrack, Volume 4: “A Second Chance”

    • Previous season winner will no longer earn seasonal ranks

Future Plans

  • Locked and Loaded has several more episodes to go

  • After L&L, release one or two episodes of Entrenched in the main feed for all listeners

  • Return with Above Board into Chowder’s secret, exciting adventure!


At the end of the season we will do the following:

  • Reveal the highest-ranked Discord member by Auge who will receive a special giveaway item

  • Announce the total amount raised for AAPI Jerounalist Therapy Relief Fund

  • Determine whether the seasonal goal was met

    • If so, dispense rewards!

We hope this roadmap is is exciting and fun for our listeners, Patrons, Discord members and everyone in between.
